How Teaching Works

Apply to Teach

Start an account and submit your application. We will notify you once you're approved, typically within 2 weeks.

Create Your First Class

Film your Skillshare class and publish it with our easy class upload tool. We provide help every step of the way. For English applicants, you're encouraged to create your first class via one of our teacher programs for first time teachers.

Start Earning

You’ll be paid monthly for every member who watches your classes, forever. Top earning teachers make $100,000+ a year.

New Teacher Programs

Our new teacher programs are designed to help new teachers create their first class and successfully launch their teaching journey on Skillshare with feedback and support from our team and community. You'll be invited into one of the programs once you are approved to teach.

Skillshare teachers are working professionals, experts, and subject matter enthusiasts. Once you've applied and are approved to teach, you can publish a class at any time as long as it meets our Class Guidelines. There is no cost to publishing a class.

Skillshare is an online learning community for classes within creativity, the arts, design, freelance, lifestyle, and productivity. There is a lot of room for unique and specific skills and expression, but some topics are off-limits on Skillshare. For more guidance, please see our Teacher Help Center.

Yes! We offer resources like our Teacher Help Center and a class all about how to plan, produce and promote an engaging Skillshare class. We also provide hands-on support through our teacher programs, and are available for any questions at teach@skillshare.com.

Once you've applied and are approved to teach, you can publish your class at any time through our class upload tool. All new classes are reviewed by the Skillshare team to ensure they meet our guidelines.

Skillshare classes include a combination of video lessons and a class project. All classes are pre-recorded and average 30-40 minutes in total length. The class project is a short assignment that helps members put their new skills into action.

At Skillshare, we believe in learning by doing. That’s why every Skillshare class has a hands-on project. Class projects ask students to use the skills they’ve learned to create something new that can be shared in a project gallery or on social media. Classes without project instructions will not be approved.

You'll earn money through monthly royalties based on the amount of minutes watched in your classes plus a referral bonus for every student you refer to Skillshare. Learn more by reviewing our Revenue & Payments section of our Teacher Help Center.

Skillshare operates on a membership model, so your class will have a built-in audience from the start. We also have tons of tips to help you promote your class to your own community to help you maximize your success.
