We'll be making our own 'Monthly Favourites' video, using all these techniques to put together a snappy edit with some simple B roll.

The Project

Film, edit and share your own Monthly Favourites video where you talk about up to 4 things that you've discovered or enjoyed this month.

If you're brand new to video editing, or just want to get your feet wet, feel free to choose just 1 item that you'll talk about on camera.

Filming the Video

This class focuses on editing, and so we've skipped past the filming stage. To keep things simple, if you don't have a camera setup or don't have any experience in filming yourself, please use your phone. Just turn your phone landscape, and using the default camera app, film a selfie-video of yourself talking about your Monthly Favourite(s).

We're not interested in video quality here, we're interested in learning how to edit in Final Cut Pro X, and how to make the edit snappy and interesting. The video quality can always be improved later :)

Raw Footage from my Monthly Favourites video

If you're not keen to have your face on camera, that's okay - feel free to download the raw footage from my August 2019 Favourites video, and you can use that to edit along in Final Cut.

Royalty-Free Music

I’ve been using Epidemic Sound exclusively for all my music needs since 2017. It’s amazing. Here’s a cheeky affiliate link that gets you a free 30-day trial:https://share.epidemicsound.com/ali

Plugins and Templates

I use various plugins and templates for colour grading, titles and transitions. Most are from VideoHive. Here's a list of what we're using in this series.

Feedback

I really want to make this course as useful as it can be. If you identify any areas that would benefit from being clearer, please do email me and let me know. I'd love to hear from you :)
