The Haar is a sea fret which glides in from Scandinavia. When I loved in Edinburgh, I used to find it oppressive… although it certainly ramped up the atmosphere in the Old Town!
It was only after moving out along the coast that I appreciated its vastness! It can appear as a solid wall of over 100 feet high gliding across the sea towards us!
I love it, but it's also unsettling to the soul? Like any form of significant change in weather…
